Carsten Lüter

Got me! This is indeed a digital photograph of me inspecting marine shells from a deep-sea haul onboard a research vessel in the SW Atlantic. I am an evolutionary biologist with a strong affinity to the marine environment. Based in Berlin I am working as a museum curator, researcher, and lecturer. In my professional life all imagery is – and has to be – digital for obvious reasons. Every optical gear I am using on a  daily basis, be it a repro-DSLR, a microscope camera or a scanning device produces digital images. I love the versatility and the accuracy of all this hightech equipment, without which my professional work would be impossible. But you may have guessed it already: this is one of the reasons why I have an analog life in my private photography.
